The #18 field hockey team went 1-1 last week, posting a 2-1 win at Wesleyan, before shouldering a 2-1 loss at #10 Wellesley. Senior captain Kirsten Kilburn (North Branford, Conn.) had a goal and two assists over the two-game span. The Lyons suffered 2-0 losses to both Rensselaer and Emerson last week. This week proves to be another busy affair as MHC returns to the field on Tuesday with a 4pm contest at Bay Path. The Lyons (3-6; 0-2 NEWMAC) are then in action on Saturday, traveling to MIT for a 1pm match. Mount Holyoke posted a 9-0 team win at Smith last week. Two student-athletes also competed at the ITA New England Regional Championships on Friday. Mount Holyoke (4-4; 2-3 NEWMAC) is back on the courts on Saturday, welcoming Clark at 1pm.
The Lyons shouldered losses to MIT (3-0), Clark (3-0) and Wheaton (3-0) in NEWMAC action last week. Mount Holyoke (2-12; 0-5 NEWMAC) returns to action this week beginning on Tuesday at Wellesley (7pm). The Lyons close out the week on Saturday with a tri-match at Salve Regina. MHC will face the host Seahawks at 1pm and will then square off against Roger Williams at 3pm.
The Lyons finished 12th of 24 competing teams at the Purple Valley Classic, hosted by Williams College. Sophomore Becca Rogers (Tucson, Ariz.) paced the way once again for MHC, finishing 38th overall. Mount Holyoke returns to action this weekend, traveling to Keene, N.H., on Saturday to compete in the Keene State Invitational (11am).
Mount Holyoke placed fourth overall in a field of 11 teams at last weekend's Middlebury Invitaional. Sophomore Heeamin Lee (Chestnut Hill, Mass.) had the top finish of any Lyons player, posting ninth overall with a combined score of 162. MHC is back on the links this weekend at the Williams College Fall Invitational. Action begins on Saturday and runs through Sunday.
The Lyons were idle last week, but return to action on Saturday when they open their regular show season at the Smith College Show.
