SOUTH HADLEY, Mass. - Under sun filled skies, the Mount Holyoke College rowing team added a new boat to its fleet on Sunday with the christening of the Jeanne Friedman. Named after the team's former head coach, who retired at the end of last season after 22 years at the helm, the boat was ushered in with great fan fair as student-athletes, faculty, staff and program alums gathered at the MHC Boathouse.

Current head coach Heather Putnam welcomed the large crowd outside the boathouse and guest speakers at the event included Lori Hendricks '92, Director of Athletics and Chair of Physical Education and Jennifer Grow '94, Editor of the MHC Alumnae Quarterly and a former rower and assistant coach under Friedman.

Friedman was then joined by her son, Jacob, in christening the newest boat in her honor. The Lyons will have their first chance to test the Jeanne Friedman on Saturday, April 4 when they compete at the Tufts Regatta in Medford, Mass.
