Lyons Tales: A Review & Preview of Mount Holyoke Athletics for Mar. 30th

LACROSSE

The Lyons went 1-1 to open NEWMAC play last week, defeating Emerson (9-6) before falling to Babson (18-9). Junior Catherine Ryan (Longmeadow, Mass.) became just the second player in program history to record her 100th career assist in the loss to the Beavers. Mount Holyoke (4-4; 1-1 NEWMAC) is back in action on Wednesday when it travels to Wheaton for a 7pm showdown. The Lyons close out the week at home on Saturday, hosting Springfield at 12pm. TRACK & FIELD

The Lyons return to action on Saturday when they head to Fitchburg State to take part in the Jim Sheehan Memorial Meet. Action begins at 10am.

 

GOLF

The Lyons are set to open their full spring schedule on April 11-12 when they play in the Vassar Invitational in Poughkeepsie, N.Y.

 

RIDING

The Mount Holyoke riding team finished second overall at Saturday's Co-Hosted Show and then saw a number of outstanding rides on Sunday at the Regional Championships. The Lyons are now ready to host the Zone 1 Championships, which gets underway on Saturday at the MHC Equestrian Center. The top two finishing teams at Zones will advance to the IHSA National Championships.

 

TENNIS

Mount Holyoke returned to play in the Northeast on Saturday, hosting Connecticut College at the MHC Field House. The Lyons saw a number of outstanding performances as they swept doubles and won three of six singles for a 6-3 victory over the Camels - ranked #19 in the region. The Lyons (10-7) return to the court on Saturday, hosting Colby-Sawyer at 10:30am. 

 

ROWING

The Lyons were unable to host their spring opening regatta on Sunday, but did honor their former coach with the christening of the newest boat to the fleet, the Jeanne Friedman. Mount Holyoke is back in action this weekend when they travel to Medford, Mass., to compete in the Tufts Regatta on Saturday.
