SOUTH HADLEY, Mass. – Sophomore Becca Rogers has been named the recipient of the Lyon of the Week award for the period ending September 29. A member of the cross country team, she has been MHC’s top performer through the first two meets of the 2014-15 season.

A native of Tucson, Ariz., Rogers finished first on the team and 38th overall at the highly competitive 6k Purple Valley Classic, hosted by Williams College last weekend. She boasted a time of 23:53.0 in a field that featured 267 runners. As a team, Mount Holyoke was 12th of 24 competing teams.

During her rookie season, the former St. Gregory College Prepatory School standout helped the Lyons to five top-15 finishes. Among her top performances last year was at the Franklin Pierce Invitational, where she was 56th overall with a time of 25:26.

Prior to Mount Holyoke, Rogers was a four-year member of her high school cross country team. In addition to serving as a captain, she competed at the Southern Arizona States 5k Championship for three years straight. She was also a four-year member of the soccer team and a two-year participant and one year captain of the track and field team.

Mount Holyoke returns to action this weekend when it travels to Keene, N.H., to compete at the Keene State Invitational. Action gets underway at 11am.
