The Lyons went 1-1 last week, defeating Smith (54-52) before falling to Wellesley (48-35) in NEWMAC action. Senior forward Amber Legare (Chicopee, Mass.) notched a game-best 24 points and 14 rebounds in the victory, which marked the first against the Pioneers since the 2008-09 season. MHC (6-13; 3-7 NEWMAC) is back in action on Wednesday in a 7:30pm game at Coast Guard. The Lyons then host Wheaton on Saturday (1pm) at the Mildred S. Howard Gymnasium. Mount Holyoke (4-13) shouldered losses to Connecticut College (6-3), St. Lawrence (9-0) and Hamilton (9-0) last week. The Lyons are back on the court on Wednesday as they honor their senior class in the final home match of the season against Amherst (6pm).
The Lyons had an outstanding effort at the non-team scoring Wesleyan Invitational on Saturday. Pacing the meet was a victory by sophomore Becca Rogers in the 800-meter run as she crossed the line in a New England Division III qualifying time of 2:24.23. MHC is back in action this weekend when it travels to Hanover, N.H., to compete at the Dartmouth Indoor Classic. The meet is on Saturday at 12pm.
Mount Holyoke competed at the fourth and final event of the Tournament of Champions last weekend. The squad traveled to St. Andrews University in North Carolina, finishing strong to earn the Series Reserve Champions title. The Lyons are now idle until February 21st when they resume Regional action at the UMass Show.
