Lyons Tales: A Review & Preview of Mount Holyoke Athletics for May 12th

TRACK & FIELD

The Lyons saw two student-athletes compete at the 2014 multi-divisional Open New England Championships last weekend. MHC was paced by placed 20th overall at the 2014 New England Division III Championships last weekend. MHC was paced by junior Amber Legare (Chicopee, Mass.), who eclipsed her own school record in the Heptathlon, posting 3,679 points.

Mount Holyoke is back in action on Thursday as four student-athletes compete at the 2014 ECAC Division III Championships, hosted by Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. Legare will once again compete in the Heptathlon, senior captain Kristina Weld (Warwick, Mass.) will compete in the Hammer Throw, junior captain Dana Fry (Tempe, Ariz.) will run in the 10,000-meter run, while sophomore Camille Coklow (Chicago, Ill.) will be in the 100-meter dash. The hammer and the 10k will both conclude on Thursday, while the Heptathlon continues into Friday, along with the finals of the 100-dash (prelims on Thursday).

CREW

The Lyons concluded the 2013-14 season last weekend, competing at the ECAC National Invitational Regatta on Lake Quinsigamond. MHC saw outstanding finishes from all three boats, including the Novice Eight, which finished second overall in the Grand Final to earn Silver Medal honors. The Lyons' varsity eight boat battled past several boats, including those from Smith and Simmons, to finish third in the Third Final.
