Junior Cathleen Pruden (Raleigh, N.C.) will return to the pool on March 18-21 when she competes at the 2015 NCAA Swimming & Diving Championships at the CISD Natatorium in Shenandoah, Texas. The 2015 NEWMAC Swimmer of the Year will compete in the 200-IM, the 400-IM and the 1650-freestyle at this year's meet.
The Lyons opened the season last weekend, shouldering a heart-breaking 13-12 loss to Skidmore on the MHC Turf Field. Senior captain and midfielder Kirsten Kilburn (North Branford, Conn.) paced the effort, scoring a game-best six goals and game-high's in ground balls (4), draw controls (5) and caused turnovers (4). Mount Holyoke (0-1) is back in action on Thursday when it travels to Westfield State for a 5:30pm tip-off against the Owls. Mount Holyoke saw first year Brandy Williamson (New York, N.Y.) and sophomore Allison Shilling (New Canaan, Conn.) compete at the 2015 CSA Individual National Championships at Princeton University last weekend. Both shouldered losses in the opening round of the Holleran Division, but Williamson won her consolation match before being knocked out the final day. As a team, the Lyons finished the season with a 7-17 overall record.
The Lyons saw several runners in action at the 2015 Open New England Championships at Boston University last weekend. MHC was paced by an ECAC qualifiying performance from senior Dana Fry, who was 21st overall in the 5,000-meter run. She posted a time of 18:30.64 and will compete next weekend at the ECAC Indoor Track & Field Championships in New York City. Fry is one of several Lyons' who will be in action this weekend at ECAC's, which will be hosted at the NYC Armory.
The Mount Holyoke riding team opened the spring semester with another victory, claiming top honors at the MHC Home Show on Saturday and increasing their lead over the University of Massachusetts Amherst to 47 points in the region. It was a great win for the Lyons, who also honored their 16 graduating seniors during the show. MHC is back in action on Saturday at the University of Massachusetts.
