Lyons Tales: A Review & Preview of Mount Holyoke Athletics for Jan. 25th

RIDING

The Lyons return to action on Saturday when it competes at the Winter II Tournament of Champions, in Athens, Ohio.

 

SWIMMING & DIVING

MHC finished third overall at the 2016 Seven Sisters Championship last weekend. The Lyons were paced by senior captain Cathleen Pruden (Raleigh, N.C.), who was the only swimmer to win four individual events, while also setting three meet records, a school record and posting three NCAA B Cuts. Mount Holyoke (6-2 dual) returns to the pool this weekend, hosting Simmons on Saturday at 12pm. The Lyons will also honor its seven graduating seniors at the meet.

 

BASKETBALL

The Lyons shouldered a pair of losses last week, falling to Smith and Wheaton. Mount Holyoke (0-17; 0-9 NEWMAC) is back in action on Wednesday when it hosts WPI at 7pm. SQUASH

Mount Holyoke shouldered tough losses to William Smith and Tufts last week. Sophomore Brandy Williamson (New York, N.Y.) led the way for the Lyons, going 2-0. MHC (4-10) returns to the court on Wednesday in its final home game of the regular season where it will honor its senior class in a pre-match ceremony. The Lyons close out the week on Sunday when they travel to New Haven, Conn., for matches against Brown (10:30am) and Drexel (12:30pm).

 

TRACK & FIELD

MHC saw a number of outstanding performances at the Beynon Invitational, hosted by Smith College last weekend. The Lyons, who finished eighth of 15 competing teams, was led by senior captain Camille Coklow (Chicago, Ill.). She not only won the 60-meter dash, but finished third in the 200-meter dash as well. Mount Holyoke is back in action on Saturday when it competes at the Springfield Invitational, hosted by Springfield College.
