Lyons Tales: A Review & Preview of Mount Holyoke Athletics for Mar. 16th

 

SWIMMING & DIVING

Junior Cathleen Pruden (Raleigh, N.C.) is back in the pool this week when she competes at the 2015 NCAA Swimming & Diving Championships at the CISD Natatorium in Shenandoah, Texas. The 2015 NEWMAC Swimmer of the Year will compete in the 200-IM (Wednesday), the 400-IM (Thursday) and the 1650-freestyle (Saturday) at this year's meet. LACROSSE

The Lyons shouldered a 15-14 loss in overtime at Western New England last week. Junior Julia Bell (Longmeadow, Mass.) and first year Leila Kouakou (Leeds, Mass.) paced the offensive effort with four goals apiece. Mount Holyoke (2-2) is back in action on Monday when it squares-off against Bowdoin at 12:30pm. The match, which is part of the Spring Fling event, will take place at G. T. Bray Park in Bradenton, Fla. The Lyons will face Concordia (Wisc.) on Thursday, also at 12:30pm to conclude their week. TRACK & FIELD

The Lyons saw junior Camille Coklow (Chicago, Ill.) finish sixth in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.72 at the 2015 NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field Championships on Saturday. She became the first indoor National All-American for the Lyons since 2004 and also broke her own school record in the event, recording a time of 7.64 in the preliminary round. The Lyons now set their sights on the outdoor season and will kick-off the spring schedule on Saturday at the Wesleyan Invitational (11am).

 

GOLF

The Lyons headed to Port St. Lucie, Fla., for its training trip this week. Mount Holyoke will get in quality time on the links in Florida, including a match against Hamilton College – which is currently scheduled to kick-off on Tuesday at 12pm. Following their training trip, the Lyons are set to open their full spring schedule on April 11-12 when they play in the Vassar Invitational in Poughkeepsie, N.Y.

 

RIDING

The Mount Holyoke riding team was idle last week, but returns to action on on Saturday, March 28th with the final regular season show at UMass. That will be followed by Regionals the next day at Biscuit Hill Farm.

 

TENNIS

Mount Holyoke returns to action on Tuesday when it faces the University of Puerto Rico-Mayagüez at 10am in Mayagüez, Puerto Rico. The Lyons (7-7) close out their spring training trip at the University of Puerto Rico-Bayamón on Wednesday (10am). 

 

ROWING

The Lyons rowing team is headed south for break. MHC, which is traveling to Georgia and South Carolina during the spring break period, will get things going on Friday when they scrimmage Smith, William Smith and Trinity on Lake Lanier in Georgia. The Lyons will open its home season on March 29 when it hosts Bryant and Amherst in a regatta at the MHC Boathouse.
