FIELD HOCKEY

The Lyons advanced to the NEWMAC Championship following a 2-1 win over MIT on Saturday, but fell by a 1-0 margin in overtime to Wellesley on Sunday. MHC, which set the record for most consecutive wins in a season (9) against the Engineers, were selected for an At-Large bid into the NCAA Tournament. It marks the third time in program history and the first since 2003 for the Lyons, which finished second in the NEWMAC.

Mount Holyoke (17-2) will host Gwynedd-Mercy University (12-8) on Wednesday at the MHC Turf Field in the First Round of this year's NCAA Tournament. Game time is set for 4pm and tickets will be available on game day. Cost is $7 for adults, $3 for students and free for children aged 12 or under.

Live stats for Wednesday's game can be found HERE, while live video can be seen HERE.

The Lyons (1-1) return to the pool on Saturday when they host Westfield State University at 1pm. Live video will be available at the meet and can be found by clicking HERE.

SQUASH

The Lyons squash team played at the Maine Open last weekend and competed in over 50 matches against a variety of competition. First year Sanjna Merchant (Mumbai, India) won the 3.0 Championship to open her collegiate career. MHC opens its home season on Friday when it hosts Tufts at 5pm.

BASKETBALL

Led by 10th-year heach coach Michelle Scecina, the MHC basketball team opens its 2013-14 season on Friday, competing at the Maine Maritime Tip-Off in Castine, Maine. The Lyons, who had a record of 5-18 (3-15 NEWMAC) a season ago, open at 7:30pm against Bates College on Friday evening and will face off against either Simmons or the host Mariners on Saturday. Consolation game begins at 1pm, while the Championship will be at 3pm.
