Lyons Tales: A Review & Preview of Mount Holyoke Athletics for Jan. 20th

 

SWIMMING & DIVING

The Lyons finished second of five teams at the 2015 Seven Sisters Championships last weekend. MHC was paced by a five-win effort from junior Cathleen Pruden (Raleigh, N.C.). In addition to two NCAA B Cuts, she also notched a pair of meet records and a pool record. Mount Holyoke (5-2) is back in the pool this weekend in a 1pm dual meet against Wellesley. SQUASH

Mount Holyoke (4-9) suffered losses to Hamilton, Colby and Bowdoin during action at the 2015 Pioneer Valley Invitational last week. The Lyons are back on the court on Saturday in a 1pm match at Williams College.

 

BASKETBALL

The Lyons went 0-3 last week, shouldering tough conference losses to WPI, Smith and Emerson. MHC (4-11; 1-5 NEWMAC) is back in action on Wednesday in a 7pm game at NEWMAC-rival Clark. TRACK & FIELD

The Lyons opened the 2015 portion of their schedule on Saturday at the Tufts Invitational. Leading the way was sophomore Becca Rogers (Tucson, Ariz.), who finished third overall in the 800-meter run and then went on to place sixth in the 1-mile run to qualify for the Division III New England Championships. MHC is back in action on Saturday when it heads to Northampton to take part in the Smith Invitational (11am).

 

RIDING

Mount Holyoke is back in action on Saturday when it heads to Virginia to compete in the Winter Tournament of Champions, which is the third, and final event in the series.
