Squash's Ghose Earns Lyon of the Week Honors

SOUTH HADLEY, Mass. – The Lyon of the Week has been announced this week's honor goes to first year Ragini Ghose for her efforts in helping the Lyons squash team go 2-1 last weekend at the CSA Women's Team Championships, hosted at Yale University.

Ghose, who hails from Dubai, posted a 3-0 record last weekend to lead the Lyons in their final team weekend of the season. In a 6-3 loss to Connecticut College in the opening round of the Epps Cup (D Division), she bested Aaliyah Davidson from the third position by an 11-8, 11-9, 13-11 margin. The match marked the first contest back since Jan. 22 when she suffered a tough injury during a 3-1 win against William Smith's Madison Bradley.

Ghose followed up her win against the Camels by recording an 11-2, 11-3, 11-3 victory over Sarah Madigan as the Lyons claimed an 8-1 victory over Haverford in the Epps Cup Consolation Semifinals. She went on to complete her perfect weekend with an 11-7, 11-5, 11-4 win against Vassar's Jiamin Wu in a 7-2 victory for the Epps Cup Consolation Final.

The former Millfield School standout had a solid rookie season, posting a 10-4 record. She went 3-2 from the second position and was 7-2 from three. Ghose was also unbeaten in her last seven matches, dating back to January 13. In addition to her top efforts at CSA's, she also had several solid performances, including a 3-2 (11-5, 9-11, 11-9, 3-11, 11-6) win against Wesleyan's Bridget Doherty during the Pioneer Valley Invitational.

Mount Holyoke concluded its 2015-16 season with an 8-16 record. The Lyons were also runner-up at this year's Seven Sisters Championship.
