Mount Holyoke won its home show last Saturday, besting eight other teams to take top honors. The Lyons were paced by a number of outstanding rides, including junior captain Bridget Finnerty (Baltimore, Md.), who won two events and captured High Point Rider honors. MHC is now idle until March 26 when it competes at the UMass Show.
For the third straight season, senior captain Cathleen Pruden (Raleigh, N.C.) will represent the Lyons at the NCAA Division III Swimming & Diving Championships in Greensboro, N.C. Pruden will compete in three events, including the 200-IM (Mar. 16), the 400-IM (Mar. 17) and the 1650-free (Mar. 19). Preliminaries for each day will begin at 10am with the finals starting at 6pm.
Mount Holyoke concluded its season last weekend as sophomore Brandy Williamson (New York, N.Y.) competed at the CSA Individual Championships in Stamford, Conn. Williamson faced a pair of tough opponents in this year's draw, falling 3-0 and 3-1 against competitors from Brown and Middlebury. As a team, the Lyons finished the 2015-16 campaign with an 8-16 record.
Senior captain Camille Coklow (Chicago, Ill.) successfully defended her title in the 60-meter dash at last weekend's ECAC Indoor Championships. She posted a time of 7.63, which not only bested her own school record (7.64), but also slid her into the top three in Division III heading into this week's Nationals.
Coklow will represent the Lyons for the third time in her career at the 2016 NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships, hosted by Grinnell College. Action begins on Friday, March 11 when Coklow runs in the 60-meter dash preliminaries at 3:45pm. Finals for the event will be Saturday, March 12 at 3:25pm.
The Lyons opened their 2016 season last weekend, shouldering a tough loss at Bridgewater State (17-9). MHC was paced by its senior captains as Julia Bell (Longmeadow, Mass.) tallied five goals, while Catherine Ryan (Longmeadow, Mass.) had a game-high six assists). Mount Holyoke (0-1) opens its home schedule on Wednesday, welcoming Westfield State for a 5pm contest on the Turf Field. Mount Holyoke was back on the court last weekend for the first time in 2016, suffering a tough 6-3 loss to Bates on the Fieldhouse courts. First year Clara Wang (Madison, Conn.) had an outstanding effort for the Lyons, winning her singles match and combining at third doubles with Amy Chen (Hilo, Hawaii) for victory. MHC (8-5) returns to action on March 26 when it hosts Trinity College at 11am.
