RIDING

The equestrian team returns to action on Saturday when it competes in the Holiday Tournament of Championships, hosted at Otterbein University.

SWIMMING & DIVING

The Lyons hosted Smith and Wellesley in the 2012 MHC Invitational on Saturday. First year Cathleen Pruden (Raleigh, N.C.) won three events for Mount Holyoke, while six MHC swimmers competed in the annual Iron Woman Challenge. A total of 23 individuals from all three schools took on the challenge, which asks a swimmer to participate in all 19 swimming events.

Senior Lindsey Kanno (Cranston, R.I.) was one of just two swimmers to tackle all 20 swimming events on the day. Overall, she finished fifth of the 23 with a combined time of 30:28.78. The Lyons are back in the pool on Saturday when they travel to the University of St. Joseph for a 1pm dual meet.

BASKETBALL

Mount Holyoke suffered a pair of tough losses to open NEWMAC play last week, falling 71-50 to Smith before shouldering a 63-43 loss at #23 Babson. Senior captain Angelica Pascual (Lawrence, Mass.) averaged 12.5 points per game to lead the Lyons effort. MHC (1-4; 0-2 NEWMAC) returns to action on Tuesday with a 7pm match at Clark. The Lyons conclude the week on Friday with a 7pm home contest against MIT at the Mildred S. Howard Gymnasium.

SQUASH

The Lyons, who are ranked #17 in the latests College Squash Association National Poll, kicked-off their 2012-13 season on Saturday at the Wesleyan Round Robin. Mount Holyoke opened with a 5-4 victory over #27 William Smith, before edging #24 Tufts by another 5-4 margin. Additionally, junior Randima Ranaweera, first year Sherouk Khefagy and sophomore Samantha Rosado and Dachelle Parker all went 2-0, winning their respective matches.

MHC (2-0) returns to the court on Wednesday, heading back to Wesleyan for a 7pm match against the Cardinals.

TRACK & FIELD

Mount Holyoke opened its indoor campaign on Saturday, traveling to Northampton to compete in the non-scoring Smith College Winter Classic. Pacing the effort for the Lyons was first year Camille Coklow, who set a new school record of 8.06 in the 60-meter dash during the preliminaries. That mark also qualified the rookie for the New England Division III Championships and the ECAC Championships.

The Lyons are now idle until January 19th, when they return to action at Smith College's Beynon Invitational at 11am.
