Athletics Announces Facility Renovations

Mount Holyoke College director of athletics Lori Hendricks recently announced the approval of renovations to the College’s soccer field and field house. The project, which is set to begin this spring with the soccer field, is an estimated $1.5 million upgrade to both facilities.

“Both facility spaces are widely used by members of the college community,” said Hendricks. “The continued investment in their upkeep reflects the College’s commitment to an active, healthy community, and the maintenance of premiere facilities for women athletes.”

Mount Holyoke’s soccer field renovation is slated to begin in early May. The existing grass and top soil will be replaced, along with the original irrigation system. The field is expected to be ready for the start of the 2015 fall season.

The field house project will get underway in August and conclude by late October. Renovations include replacing the floor and curtains around the four-lane track and tennis courts. The new floor will be spike-friendly.
