SOUTH HADLEY, Mass. – Mount Holyoke College Director of Athletics Lori Hendricks has announced the hiring of Cassandra Snow as assistant athletic trainer. A former instructor at Plymouth State University and athletic trainer for the Franklin School District, she will work alongside head athletic trainer Ellen Perrella.
“I am very excited to join a successful and inspirational group of individuals who are committed to producing champions in both the academic and athletic arenas,” said Snow. Having the opportunity to be a part of that by supporting student-athletes throughout their injuries and empowering them through education regarding injury etiology, treatments, rehabilitation, and prevention is truly an honor.”
“I am very excited to have Sandy join the Athletic Training Staff,” said Perella. “She has a solid education and background in athletic training and a clear understanding of the principals involved in healthcare. Her expertise, compassion, and commitment will serve our athletic community well.”
Snow comes to Mount Holyoke after serving the past year as an athletic trainer for the Franklin School District in Franklin, N.H. In that role, she provided home game coverage for a variety of sports, including varsity and junior varsity soccer and field hockey. She performed diagnosis, treatment and injury assessment, while also communicating with coaches, parents and administrators.
Additionally, Snow served as an instructor at Plymouth State University, aiding in the teaching of a number of undergraduate programs, including Introduction to Athletic Training and Injury Assessment I. She also helped co-facilitate a forum discussion of contemporary issues in athletic training.
Snow also spent the fall of 2014 providing ATC coverage for Plymouth State’s men’s and women’s rugby club teams, as well as the New England College men’s rugby club.
During the summer of 2014, Snow worked as an athletic trainer for a number of organizations, including the Laconia Muskrats – a New England Collegiate Baseball League team – as well as the Francis Okaroh’s Ultimate Soccer Academy and the PSU Volleyball Camp.
Snow, who earned her Masters of Science in Athletic Training from Plymouth State, spent two years as an athletic training graduate student. In that capacity, she covered games and practices for a number of PSU teams, including the women’s soccer, women’s basketball and baseball teams.
A member of the National Athletic Trainers Association, the Eastern Athletic Trainers Association and the New Hampshire Athletic Trainers Association, Snow graduated from Plymouth State in 2014. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in psychology from the University of Albany in 2008, where she was a President’s List honoree.
