FIELD HOCKEY

The Lyons posted a 2-0 mark last week, defeating Westfield State (10-4) and WPI (3-0). Junior captain Colby Newsham (Harvard, Mass.) paced the effort last week, scoring a career-high five goals against the Owls, before adding the assist on the game-winning tally over the Engineers. MHC (12-5; 5-3 NEWMAC) earned the fourth-seed in this year's conference tournament and will host fifth-seed Springfield on Tuesday in the Quarterfinals at 7pm on the Turf Field. The winner of that contest advances to Saturday's NEWMAC Semifinals, hosted by top-seeded Babson College. Live stat and video links (when available) for this week's action can be found at http://athletics.mtholyoke.edu/sports/fh/2017-18/schedule.

SOCCER

Mount Holyoke suffered a pair of losses last week, falling at Smith (2-0) and to Babson (2-1) to wrap-up regular season play. The Lyons saw sophomore Minerva Veeser-Bobea (Arlington, Mass.) tallied the lone goal of the week for MHC. Mount Holyoke concluded its season with 2-14-2 overall record, going 0-9-1 in NEWMAC action.

VOLLEYBALL

Mount Holyoke shouldered losses at Smith (3-2) and to Babson (3-0) to conclude its 2017 campaign. Sophomore Sasha Simine (Kitchener, Ont.) posted 20 kills to lead the Lyons. Mount Holyoke concluded its season with a 10-12 overall record, going 1-7 in NEWMAC play.

CROSS COUNTRY

Mount Holyoke returned to the course on Sunday, finishing 10th overall at the 2017 NEWMAC Championships at Franklin Park. The Lyons were paced by a number of strong performances, personal and season's best times, including junior Corrin Moss (Columbus, Ohio), who finished 29th with a time of 19:57 on the 5k course. Her time at today's event marked her best ever finish at Franklin Park  - one of three runners to reach personal top time on that course. The Lyons are now idle until November 11th when the squad heads to the University of Southern Maine to compete at the 2017 NCAA New England Regional Championships. The event is set to begin at 12pm.

RIDING

The Lyons hosted their first home show of the season, posting 38 points to capture victory on Saturday. It marked MHC's second victory of the regular season to maintain their hold at the top of the regional standings. Pacing Saturday's effort was first year Libby Sams (Atlanta, Ga.), who garnered blue ribbons in novice fences and novice flat. She went on to earn overall high point rider and novice high point rider honors for her efforts. Mount Holyoke returns to the arena on Saturday when they head to Stonleigh-Burnham School in Greenfield, Mass., to compete in the Smith College Show.

ROWING

Mount Holyoke was back in the Charles River last weekend, competing at the 2017 Seven Sisters Championship, hosted by Simmons College on Sunday. The Lyons, which had two boats in action at the event, finished fourth overall at this year's regatta. Highlighting the day were All-Seven Sisters selections, seniors Sophie Rabinow (Orsay, France) and Ariya Lawson (Washington, D.C.), along with first year novice selection, Paloma Cruz (Point Richmond, Calif.). The Seven Sisters event concluded the fall season for the rowing team, which will return to action in the spring.

SWIMMING & DIVING

The Lyons took to the water for the first time last weekend, shouldering a tough loss at Assumption on Friday, before competing at the Smith Relays the following day. Junior Bri Groves (Reston, Va.) has a strong effort in the dual meet against the Greyhounds, finishing runner-up in the 200-breaststroke and fourth in the 100-breast events. Mount Holyoke returns to action on Saturday when it hosts the University of New England at 1pm at the MHC Natatorium. Live video (when available) can be found at http://athletics.mtholyoke.edu/sports/wswimdive/2017-18/schedule.

SQUASH

Mount Holyoke takes to the court for the first time this week, traveling to Poughkeepsie, N.Y., for matches against Boston University (2pm) and the host Brewers (4pm). The Lyons will play their first home contest on November 11th, hosting Smith at 10am. Under the direction of sixth-year head coach Erin Robson, the Lyons look to improve upon a 9-17 season from 2016-17, which saw the squad win six of its last seven games, including the Seven Sisters Championship and third overall in the Epps Cup (D Division) at the CSA Team Championships.
