RIDING

Mount Holyoke is idle until May 3rd when it opens competition at the IHSA Nationals, hosted this year at the Pennsylvania Farm Show Complex in Harrisburg, Pa. Action will run through Sunday, May 6th.

ROWING

The Lyons returned to the waters of Lake Quinsigamond last week, finishing strong against Clark, Simmons and the University of Rochester. MHC's varsity eight boat took third overall in its race, while the varsity four captured victory later in the day. Mount Holyoke returns to action on Saturday when it heads back to Worcester to take on Assumption and Coast Guard at 9:10am on Lake Quinsigamond.

TRACK & FIELD

Mount Holyoke finished fifth of 13 teams at its own Spring Fling Invitational last weekend, which saw several top performances. The Lyons were paced by junior Julia Hecking (Greenville, Pa.) and sophomore Emma Raney (Palo Alto, Calif.) who won the hammer throw and 3,000-meter steeplechase, resepctively. MHC returns to action on Saturday when it travels to Springfield to compete in the Springfield College Invitational. Action gets underway at 10am.

LACROSSE

Mount Holyoke went 1-1 last week, besting Emerson before falling at Wellesley. Senior captain Leila Kouakou (Leeds, Mass.) had a solid week of action, posting four goals with three assists on the week. MHC (3-9; 1-3 NEWMAC) returns to the field on Wednesday, welcoming NEWMAC-rival Springfield at 6pm on the Turf Field. The Lyons wrap-up the week on Saturday, hosting Coast Guard for a 12pm contest as MHC celebrates its graduating senior class. Fans can follow all the action live (when available) at http://athletics.mtholyoke.edu/sports/wlax/2017-18/schedule.

TENNIS

The Lyons went 1-1 last week, notching a 5-4 win at Springfield, before shouldering a tough 9-0 loss at home against 13th-ranked MIT.  Sophomore Catherine Peabody (San Francisco, Calif.) and first year Anya Gerasimova (Salem, Ore.) had an outstanding doubles effort in the loss to the Engineers, battling to an 8-4 decision, while Gerasimova earned the match victory against the Pride in singles. MHC (6-9; 3-2 NEWMAC) returns to the court on Tuesday when it welcomes Clark at 4:30pm. The Lyons conclude the week on Saturday, celebrating its graduating seniors as it hosts Wellesley for senior day at 12pm.

GOLF

Mount Holyoke returned to the links last weekend at the 2018 Vassar College Invitational. The tournament was cut short due to bad weather conditions that forced the cancellation of Sunday's action. MHC finished 10th overall in the field, paced by a 15th-place effort from sophomore Stephanie Spitzer (Hinsdale, Ill.). The Lyons return to action this weekend when they travel to Amherst to compete in the Jack Leaman Invitational on Saturday and Sunday.
