SOUTH HADLEY, Mass. – Mount Holyoke College Director of Athletics Lori Hendricks has announced the hiring of Catherine LeBlanc as assistant athletic trainer. A former athletic trainer at Cheshire Medical Center, she will work alongside head athletic trainer Ellen Perrella and assistant athletic trainer Micah Dion.
"I am extremely excited to join the Mount Holyoke community," said LeBlanc. "Both the staff and students have been incredibly friendly and I look forward to being a part of this positive and welcoming environment."
Hendricks added, "The health and safety of our student-athletes is my highest priority. Catherine brings to MHC the best practices from multiple collegiate programs as well as private clinics. She is joining a very strong athletic training staff that cares a great deal about our teams' performances and well-being. I am happy to welcome Catherine to Lyons Nation."
LeBlanc joins Mount Holyoke College after spending the last year working as the athletic trainer at the Cheshire Medical Center in Keene, New Hampshire. During her tenure, she served at the orthopedic clinic, providing daily patient intake and care, and developing home exercise programs. Prior to her time at the Cheshire Medical Center, LeBlanc was the assistant athletic trainer at Longwood University. Her primary responsibilities included the sports of women's soccer, men's and women's tennis, women's basketball and club cheerleading. While at Longwood, Leblanc served as an adjunct instructor, teaching basic skills in athletic training as well as injury mechanism and assessment. LeBlanc supervised student athletic trainers as a clinical preceptor and assisted with hiring and training new staff and graduate athletic trainers. She also implemented and monitored both short-term and post-operative long-term rehabilitation programs.
LeBlanc has also served as the assistant athletic trainer at Iona College and as a graduate assistant athletic trainer at St. Anne's-Belfield School.
Throughout her career, LeBlanc has taken part in several volunteer opportunities including the Summit All-Star Championship at ESPN Wide World of Sports and the Field Hockey Commonwealth Games.
A member of the National Athletic Trainers' Association (NATA), LeBlanc earned her Master of Education from the University of Virginia. She received her Bachelor of Science from Springfield College where she graduated Magna Cum Laude.
