Squash Rolls to Sixth Consecutive Seven Sisters Championship

POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. (Feb. 4, 2012) – The Mount Holyoke College squash team rolled to its sixth consecutive Seven Sisters Championship today at Vassar College. After racing to 9-0 victories over Wellesley College and Smith College, the Lyons blanked Vassar College 9-0 to seal the title. They entered the weekend ranked 13th in the latest CSA National Rankings.

Mount Holyoke was followed in the final standings by Wellesley (2-1), Smith (1-2) and Vassar (0-3). Sophomore Randima Ranaweera, senior Shara Robertson and sophomore Katrina Intal represented the Lyons on the All-Tournament Team. They were joined by Emma Haley (Wellesley), Rosemary O'Connor (Wellesley), Clair Oblamski (Smith), Helen Queenan (Smith) and Nina Punukollu (Vassar).

Over the course of the day, Mount Holyoke dropped just two games. Ranaweera, Robertson, Intal, junior Kathryn Brummer, senior Marie Ozanne, senior Paulina Rojek, sophomore Elyse Taylor and senior Sarah Moore prevailed in all three contests.

The Lyons (15-6) are slated to visit 16th-ranked Amherst College on Wednesday at 6:00 p.m. They will be looking for their sixth win in a row.
