Squash Matches Up With Perennial Powers Stanford and Cornell

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. (Nov. 20, 2011) – After cruising to a pair of 9-0 wins in front of its home crowd yesterday, the Mount Holyoke College squash team hit the road for matches against perennial powers Stanford University and Cornell University today. The Lyons were blanked in both contests, which took place at Williams College's Simons Squash Center. Stanford and Cornell entered the day ranked sixth and seventh in the nation, respectively.

From top to bottom, Mount Holyoke's lineup featured sophomore Randima Ranaweera, senior Shara Robertson, sophomore Shaheen Madraswala, sophomore Katrina Intal, first year Kristina Myren, junior Kathryn Brummer, senior Marie Ozanne, sophomore Elyse Taylor and senior Paulina Rojek.

The Lyons fell 9-0 to Stanford (5-1) in their first outing of the day. Their top performance came from Robertson, who took the first game of her number two tilt against Kyla Sherwood before falling 3-1. They followed that up with a 9-0 loss to Cornell (3-1). This time, Myren came out on top in the fourth game of her 3-1 setback to Margaret Remsen at the number five slot.

Mount Holyoke (2-2) is slated to take part in the Wesleyan University Round Robin from December 3-4. The Lyons will face off against Connecticut College, Williams Smith College and Northeastern University at the annual event.
