MIDDLETOWN, Conn. (Dec. 4, 2011) – The Mount Holyoke College squash team ran its winning streak to three with convincing victories over Smith College and Colgate University today at the Wesleyan University Round Robin. Senior Shara Robertson, sophomore Shaheen Madraswala, first year Dachelle Parker, first year Samantha Rosado and sophomore Julianna Dahbura came out on top in both matches to set the tone for the Lyons, who dropped just three games throughout the day.
Mount Holyoke rolled to an 8-1 triumph over Smith in its first match of the day thanks to shutout victories from each of its top eight players. From top to bottom, the group included Robertson, Madraswala, first year Kristina Myren, junior Kathryn Brummer, senior Paulina Rojek, Parker, Rosado and Dahbura. The Lyons have now defeated Smith 11 times in a row. They topped the Pioneers 9-0 in their season opener two weeks ago.
It was more of the same in Mount Holyoke's second match of the day against Colgate. This time, the Lyons prevailed 9-0 behind 3-0 wins from sophomore Randima Ranaweera, Robertson, Madraswala, sophomore Katrina Intal, senior Marie Ozanne, sophomore Elyse Taylor, Parker, Rosado and Dahbura. It was their fourth straight victory over the Raiders.
Mount Holyoke (5-3) will close out the semester at home against Wesleyan on Thursday at 6:00 p.m.
