BABSON PARK, Mass. (March 2, 2011) – Mount Holyoke College sophomore guard Angelica Pascual has been named to the NEWMAC Women's Basketball All-Conference Second Team after her outstanding play during the 2010-11 season. The league unveiled its award winners on Tuesday.

Pascual enjoyed a breakout season on the offensive end of the floor for the Lyons. In addition to piling up 13.5 points and 5.3 rebounds per game, she also added 38 assists and 31 steals. The guard started all 24 games, logging 32.5 minutes per outing. She drained 44 shots from beyond the arc and converted 65.8% (50-76) of her free throw attempts. Pascual reached double digits in the scoring column 18 times and piled up 20 or more points on four occasions.

The sophomore exploded for a program record 37 points against Agnes Scott College in the opening game of the Seven Sisters Classic (11/20). Her seven three-pointers in the contest were also a school record. At the conclusion of the tournament, she was named to the All-Classic Team.

Pascual recorded her fourth career double-double on 13 points and 10 rebounds in Mount Holyoke's 67-50 triumph over Johnson and Wales University (01/24). One week after tallying 20 points in a 48-46 overtime win over Wellesley College (1/29), she boosted the Lyons to a thrilling 59-57 victory over Clark University with her 27-point effort (2/5). Pascual closed out the season with 20 more points against national power Babson College (2/19).

Her most heroic effort of the year came in Mount Holyoke's dramatic 44-39 victory over MIT (2/12). Trailing by 17 points with just over 13 minutes to go, the Lyons staged a furious comeback to seal its fifth NEWMAC triumph of the season. Pascual drained three shots from beyond the arc during the run and finished with a game best 17 points. She also pulled down seven rebounds in the contest.

Over the course of her career, Pascual has posted 11.8 points and 5.8 rebounds per outing. In 50 career games played, she has amassed 589 points, 289 rebounds, 78 assists, 57 steals and 67 three pointers made.

Forward Nicole Wurdeman was named NEWMAC Athlete of the Year for the second consecutive season after leading Babson to its third straight league title and an undefeated regular season. Smith College forward Rosa Drummond picked up NEWMAC Rookie of the Year honors, while Babson's Judy Blinstrub was voted as the league's Coach of the Year for the sixth time in her career. MIT received the NEWMAC Sportsmanship Award for the second time in a row and fourth time overall.

Mount Holyoke closed out its 2010-11 campaign with an overall record of 7-17 and a league mark of 5-13.
