Wellesley Rolls Past Bryn Mawr in Second Game of Seven Sisters Classic

SOUTH HADLEY, Mass. (Nov. 20, 2010) – Led by forward Becca Kimball, Wellesley College rolled to a 75-35 victory over Bryn Mawr College in the second game of the 2010 Seven Sisters Classic this afternoon. The sophomore piled up 28 points on 12-of-16 shooting from the floor and also came up with six of her team's 23 steals. It was the season opener for both squads.

The Blue never trailed in the contest and led by as many as 52 points (75-23) down the stretch. Kimball was joined in double digits by sophomores Malia Maier and Ashleigh Sargent, who recorded 13 and 10 points, respectively. As a team, Wellesley shot 51.8% (29-56) from the field and made four three-pointers.

Bryn Mawr was paced by junior guard Lindsey Darvin, who amassed 13 points. Sophomore forward Rudi Vanzin totaled five points and 11 boards, while first year forward Jackie Handy chipped in with six points and 10 rebounds. The Owls finished with a 38-27 edge on the glass.

Wellesley (1-0, 0-0 NEWMAC) will round out its weekend against Agnes Scott College tomorrow at 10:00 a.m. Meanwhile, Bryn Mawr (0-1, 0-0 CC) is slated to face off against Smith College at noon.
