THE MATCHUP: Mount Holyoke entertains NEWMAC foe MIT Saturday afternoon (1:00 p.m.) at the Mildred S. Howard Gymnasium. In 34 previous meetings between the programs, the Lyons own an 22-12 advantage. MHC Logo THE LYONS: Mount Holyoke (2-10, 1-6 NEWMAC) has picked up wins over Vassar College (54-51) and Clark University (60-57) thus far this season. The Lyons have been paced by guard Angelica Pascual, who has racked up a team best 12.8 points per game to go with 20 assists. Seven of her 22 three-pointers came in a heartbreaking 62-60 setback in the opening game of the Seven Sisters Classic. Pascual finished with a program record 37 points in the contest. She was joined on the All-Classic Team by forward Tricia Chase, who has averaged 7.3 points and a squad high 6.9 rebounds per outing. Guard Christine Chancy has posted 7.3 points and 5.0 boards per game to go with a team best 24 assists. Meanwhile, forward Bree Hollinger has pulled down 6.5 rebounds per contest for Mount Holyoke, which has amassed 174 offensive boards over its first 12 games.

Opponent Logo THE ENGINEERS: MIT (5-8, 1-6 NEWMAC) has used a balanced scoring attack to amass five victories thus far this season. In addition to its league win over the Coast Guard Academy (59-24), the Engineers have also defeated Wilkes University (62-55), Pine Manor College (54-46), Fisher College (64-32) and Wheelock College (50-33). They have suffered three straight setbacks after opening the season with a 5-5 mark. MIT has been paced by guard Tamara Pena, who has netted 18 three-pointers en route to a points per game average of 7.9. The rookie has also amassed 4.5 rebounds per game, 26 assists and 19 steals. Fellow guard Lauren Sascha Burton has delivered 7.5 points and 5.5 boards per outing while dishing out a team best 36 assists. Meanwhile, forward Anna Merrifield has collected 6.8 points and a squad high 7.4 rebounds per contest. Rachel Hunt has piled up an eye popping 34 blocked shots while also chipping in with 6.3 points and 5.6 rebounds per game.  

NEXT UP: Both squads will resume their NEWMAC schedules on Wednesday. Mount Holyoke will visit the Coast Guard Academy at 5:30 p.m., while MIT will travel to WPI for a 7:00 p.m. tip-off.
