Smith Breezes Past Bryn Mawr in Fifth Game of 2010 Seven Sisters Classic

SOUTH HADLEY, Mass. (Nov. 21, 2010) – Smith College breezed to a 69-60 victory over Bryn Mawr College in the fifth game of the 2010 Seven Sisters Classic this afternoon at Mount Holyoke College. Four players reached double digits in the scoring column for the Pioneers, who never trailed in the contest and enjoyed a double digit lead for all but seven minutes.

Smith (2-2, 0-0 NEWMAC) was paced by sophomore forward Amanda Zakoske, who finished with 14 points on 7-of-9 shooting from the floor. Senior guard Jessica Welk and first year center Rosa Drummond totaled 13 points apiece, while first year forward Sydney Parkmond added 11.

Sophomore guard Devon Quattrochi set the tone for the Pioneers' offensive attack with eight assists. As a team, her team knocked down 44.8% (30-67) of their shots from the field and 80.0% (8-10) of their free throw attempts. Quattrochi and Parkmond were each named to the All-Classic Team at the conclusion of the tournament.

They were joined by Bryn Mawr's (0-2, 0-0 CC) Nicolette Parmese and Lindsey Darvin, who accounted for 26 of their team's 30 points today. Parmese ended the day with game highs of 19 points and nine rebounds. She went 6-of-13 from the floor and 6-of-7 from the charity stripe. Meanwhile, Darvin tallied seven points.
