Basketball Player Angelica Pascual Named Lyon of the Week

Angelica Pascual

SOUTH HADLEY, Mass. (Nov. 23, 2010) – Sophomore basketball player Angelica Pascual has been named Lyon of the Week for the week of November 15-21 after averaging 20.7 points and 6.0 rebounds per game over her team's first three games. The guard converted 40.4% (21-52) of her shots from the field and 50.0% (8-16) of her three point attempts.

She was at her best on Saturday, when she exploded for a program record 37 points in Mount Holyoke's heartbreaking 62-60 loss to Agnes Scott College in the opening game of the 2010 Seven Sisters Classic. The previous single game high of 32 points was established by Elise Cromack against Trinity College during the 1984-85 season. Cromack matched her own mark two years later against Nichols College, and Sandra Thrall tied the record versus MIT during the 1988-89 campaign. Pascual went 13-of-23 from the floor and knocked down a program record seven three-pointers. She was perfect in four chances at the free throw line and also pulled down eight rebounds.

One day later, Pascual cemented her spot on the All-Classic Team with 15 more points in her team's 54-51 triumph over Vassar College. She also scored 10 points in the Lyons' 48-37 setback at Western New England College on Tuesday.

Over the course of her career, Pascual has recorded 11.3 points and 6.2 rebounds per outing.

Mount Holyoke (1-2, 0-0 NEWMAC) is slated to visit top ranked Amherst College this evening at 7:30 p.m.
