Vassar Tops Smith 67-58 in Third Game of Seven Sisters Classic

SOUTH HADLEY, Mass. (Nov. 20, 2010) – Junior Brittany Parks and first year Cyndi Matsuoka combined for 50 points, as Vassar College topped Smith College 67-58 in the third game of the 2010 Seven Sisters Classic.

Parks finished with game highs of 28 points, nine rebounds and six assists to set the tone for the Brewers. The guard went 8-of-16 from the floor and 11-of-12 from the free throw line. Meanwhile, Matsuoka piled up 22 points on 7-of-13 shooting from the field in her collegiate debut. Fellow first year Hannah Senftleber chipped in with 13 points and four boards. As a team, Vassar converted 42.0% of its shots from the field and 86.4% of its free throws.

Smith was paced by sophomore forward Amanda Zakoske and first year center Rosa Drummond, who tallied 11 points and five boards apiece. First year forward Sydney Parkmond added nine points and five rebounds off the bench. The Pioneers made 33.3% (22-66) of their shots from the floor and 86.7% (13-15) of their free throw attempts.

Vassar (1-0, 0-0 LL is slated to take on host Mount Holyoke College in the final game of the weekend tomorrow at 2:00 p.m. Meanwhile, Smith (1-2, 0-0 NEWMAC) will meet up with Bryn Mawr College at noon.
