SOUTH HADLEY, Mass. (Feb. 16, 2011) – The Mount Holyoke College women's squash team is slated to compete in the 2011 CSA National Championships this weekend at Princeton University. After posting an overall record of 13-10 during the regular season, the Lyons have earned the seventh seed in the Kurtz Cup (B Division). They will face off against second seeded Middlebury College in a quarterfinal round match on Friday at 4:30 p.m.

During the regular season, Mount Holyoke suffered a 7-2 setback to Middlebury at the Yale University Round Robin (1/23). First years Randima Ranaweera and Shaheen Madraswala earned wins for the Lyons, who downed the Panthers 6-3 in the opening round of the Kurtz Cup Tournament last season before dropping their next two matches. They finished the season as the 12th ranked team in the nation.

Mount Holyoke will enter the weekend with a national ranking of 15th overall. From top to bottom, the Lyons' lineup will feature Ranaweera, senior Vidushi Gurunada, junior Shara Robertson, Madraswala, sophomore Tempest Bowden, first year Katrina Intal, sophomore Kathryn Brummer, junior Paulina Rojek and junior Marie Ozanne.

Madraswala and Robertson have collected 16 wins apiece to set the tone for the squad. Ranaweera has also been productive at the top of the ladder, recording 14 victories during her rookie campaign. She is currently ranked 25th in the nation individually. Joining her in the top 100 are Gurunada (39), Robertson (54), Madraswala (85) and Bowden (89).

The Kurtz Cup will feature top seeded Brown University, third seeded Williams College, fourth seeded Bates College, fifth seeded Amherst College, sixth seeded Columbia University and eighth seeded George Washington University in addition to Mount Holyoke and Middlebury.

In 2007-08, the Lyons piled up a program best 17 wins and established a new school record by finishing as the 11th ranked team in the CSA national poll. They also finished 11th the following year.
