SOUTH HADLEY, Mass. (Nov. 21, 2010) – The Mount Holyoke College women's squash team opened up its home slate with a pair of 9-0 victories this afternoon. After blanking Tufts University, the Lyons rolled past longtime rival Smith College. Over the course of the day, they won all 18 matches in straight sets. They closed out the weekend with an overall record of 2-2.

Mount Holyoke opened the afternoon with a convincing 9-0 win over Tufts. From top to bottom, the Lyons' lineup featured first year Randima Ranaweera, senior Vidushi Gurunada, junior Shara Robertson, first year Shaheen Madraswala, first year Katrina Intal, junior Paulina Rojek, sophomore Kathryn Brummer, sophomore My-Linh Nguyen and junior Marie Ozanne. It was the Lyons' first victory over the Jumbos since the 2003-04 season.

It was more of the same in Mount Holyoke's second match of the day against Smith. This time, Gurunada took a breather, and the rest of the lineup shifted up one spot. Junior Sarah Moore occupied the number nine position. The Lyons have now topped the Pioneers eight straight times dating back to the 2004-05 campaign.

In today's other contest, Tufts handed Smith an 8-1 setback.

Mount Holyoke (2-2) and Smith (1-4) are both scheduled to take part in the Wesleyan University Round Robin from December 4-5. Meanwhile, Tufts (2-3) will travel to Wellesley College on December 2 for a non-conference clash beginning at 7:00 p.m.
