Squash Runs Win Streak to Six With Two More Shutouts at Wesleyan Round Robin

MIDDLETOWN, Conn. (Dec. 5, 2010) – The Mount Holyoke College women's squash team rolled to two more shutout victories today at the Wesleyan University Round Robin. After blanking Connecticut College, the Lyons stifled the host Cardinals to complete a perfect 4-0 weekend at the event. Over the course of their four matches, they dropped just four games.

Mount Holyoke has now won six straight matches to solidify its position among the nation's top teams. The Lyons are currently ranked 13th in the latest College Squash Association National Team Rankings. In addition, first year Randima Ranaweera (25), senior Vidushi Gurunada (39), junior Shara Robertson (54), first year Shaheen Madraswala (85) and sophomore Tempest Bowden (89) are all ranked inside the top 100 individually.

In its first match of the day, Mount Holyoke breezed to its third straight triumph over Connecticut College. In the process, the Lyons put an end to the Camels' three match winning streak. From top to bottom, their lineup featured Ranaweera, Gurunada, Robertson, Madraswala, Bowden, sophomore Kathryn Brummer, junior Paulina Rojek, sophomore My-Linh Nguyen and junior Marie Ozanne. All nine players posted shutouts.

The Lyons then closed out their weekend with a convincing 9-0 victory over 16th ranked Wesleyan. This time, first year Katrina Intal joined the lineup at the number six slot, pushing Brummer, Rojek and Nguyen down one spot each. It was the program's 17th straight win over the Cardinals.

Mount Holyoke (6-2) is slated to host eighth ranked Dartmouth College after returning from break on Tuesday, January 11 at 5:00 p.m.
