SOUTH HADLEY, Mass. - The 19th Annual Friends of Athletics Golf Tournament, which benefits Mount Holyoke Athletics, took place on Monday at The Orchards Golf Club. It was another outstanding event which saw beautiful weather and some great golf.

This year's men's division was won by Paul Donah, Mike Donais, Dwight Pearl and Wayne Petri, who combined for a score of 60. Runner-up in the division was the foursome of Mike Davenport, Bruce Blanchard, Rick Bigelow and Mike Buckley, who also shot a 64.

In the mixed division, the trio of Jeff Noble, Barbara Hebert and Deb Morrissey were the winners with a score of 65. Coming in just behind was the foursome of David Bell, Betty Thurston, Arcinee Hermiston and James Hermiston, who shot a 69.

Finally in the women's division, the foursome of Bridget Gunn '96, Alicia Stewart, Sherri Kuchinskas and Annie McMahon won with a score of 70. Andrea Mattei, Shannon Gurek, Shelley Leclerc and Keri DiLeo were the runners-up, shooting a 72 on the day.

This year's event also featured several contests at various holes. Wayne Petri (14'6") and Susan Mozena (5'4") were the closest-to-the-pin winners for the men (hole #17) and women (hole #5), respectively. In the longest drive competition, Bob Olsen and Annie McMahon were the men's (hole #8) and women's (hole #14) winners.

Additionally, the event featured a Beat the Coach hole, which allowed groups to compete against MHC head golf coach Tim Walko. If the group had a player get the ball closer-to-the-pin than Coach Walko, they were entered into a $100 raffle. This year's winner graciously donated the money back to the department.

It's never too early to start thinking about next year's tournament! The 20th annual Friends of Athletics Golf Tournament will be held on Monday, September 11, 2017. We look forward to seeing everyone once again!
