DALLAS, Texas – Mount Holyoke College Associate Director of Athletics for Communications Amie Canfield was presented the 2016 President's Award at this year's annual College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) convention, held in June at the Hilton Anatole in Dallas.
The award, which was introduced during the 2014-15 academic year, is presented by the reigning CoSIDA President. It serves to honor exemplary volunteer service and leadership within the organization's committee structure in support of programs that benefit CoSIDA members. This year, CoSIDA President Judy Willson recognized Canfield and several other members of the committee for their important work on the organization's Strategic Plan.
Mount Holyoke Director of Athletics, Lori Hendricks shares, "While Amie was honored last year by CoSIDA for her professional accomplishments, it is not surprising that her incredible commitment to service and leadership was recognized this year. She is generous in her time, providing a critical voice for Division III institutions and student-athletes at the national level. We are all thrilled for Amie and beneficiaries of her great work every day."
Canfield, who is a member of CoSIDA's Academic All-America Committee, also serves on the NCAA Division III CoSIDA Convention Planning Committee, where she has been actively involved with the planning for the Division III Day at the convention in June since 2014.
A member of the Lyons staff since 2012, Canfield has helped further develop the Lyons' Athletic Communications Office, adding online broadcasts of home athletic events, as well as expanding the department's social media outreach. She is also a member of Mount Holyoke's Hall of Fame Committee and serves as the athletics liaison to MHC's six club sport teams.
A member of a number of committees, Canfield serves as the Chair of the NEWMAC SID Committee, and is a member of the Athletic Administrators' Group (AAG). She also served as the Chair for the NEWMAC Strategic Communications Committee and sat on the NEWMAC Awards Committee during 2015-16.
A 2003 graduate of Vermont with a bachelor's degree in English, Canfield has served as a volunteer at numerous tournaments and championships, and is currently one of the East Region representatives for the United States Basketball Writers Association (USBWA) Division III National Player of the Week Selection Committee.
This is the second time CoSIDA has awarded Canfield; in 2015, she was named the Rising Star Award winner for the College Division.
