Lyons Tales: A Review & Preview of Mount Holyoke Athletics for Feb. 27th

 RIDING

Mount Holyoke returns to action on Saturday when it hosts a home show at the MHC Equestrian Center. The event will also mark Senior Day for the Lyons' six graduating seniors. Fans who cannot attend can watch live by clicking HERE.

 

SWIMMING & DIVING

Mount Holyoke saw first wyear diver Samantha Nemivant (Scottsdale, Ariz.) in action last weekend at the 2017 NCAA Division III Diving Regionals, hosted at MIT. She placed 19th in the 1-meter and was 26th overall in the 3-meter. The season concluded for the Lyons swimming & diving team following Nemivant's regionals performance.

 

SQUASH

The Lyons were back in action last weekend at the CSA National Team Championships. MHC opened with a solid win over Vassar to advance to the semifinals of the Epps Cup (D Division). A tough loss to Colby saw the Lyons square-off against Wellesley for third place in the division, which MHC won by a 7-2 margin. Sophomore Nadindhi Udangawa (Colombo, Sri Lanka) had an outstanding effort on the week, posting a 3-0 mark.

Mount Holyoke (9-17) now waits for selections to be revealed for action at the 2017 CSA Individual National Championships, hosted at Dartmouth College beginning on Friday. Action will run through Sunday.

 

TRACK & FIELD

Mount Holyoke is now idle until March 25 when it opens the outdoor season at the Wesleyan Invitational.

 

LACROSSE

Mount Holyoke opened its 2017 captain on Saturday, shouldering a tough 10-5 loss at Gordon College. The Lyons were paced by several solid efforts, including a pair of goals each from senior captain Charlotte Wagner (West Chester, Pa.) and first year midfielder Julianna Rankin (Annapolis, Md.). MHC (0-1) returns to action on Saturday when it hosts Bridgewater State on the Turf Field at 12pm.

TENNIS

The Lyons open their spring schedule on Saturday, traveling to Bates College for a 1pm match. Mount Holyoke is coming off a fall schedule which saw them finish 8-4 overall. The squad also posted a 5-3 mark in conference play, advancing to the NEWMAC Semifinals for the third straight season.
