MIT Shuts Down Volleyball, 3-0

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. (Sept. 14, 2010) – The Mount Holyoke College women's volleyball team suffered a 3-0 (25-8, 25-17, 25-8) setback to MIT this evening at the Rockwell Cage. It was the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) opener for both squads. With the win, MIT improved to 5-4 on the year. The Lyons entered the contest with a perfect 3-0 mark.

Morgan Cooley

Leading the way for Mount Holyoke was sophomore outside hitter Morgan Cooley, who posted five kills. First year outside hitter Martina Kneifel totaled 12 digs, while senior setter Kateryna Kuc tallied  14 assists.

The Lyons (3-1, 0-1 NEWMAC) will return to action on Saturday at Wheaton College. After facing off against Wheaton at noon, they will take on Bridgewater State University at 2:00 p.m.
