Kneifel Earns NEWMAC Volleyball Player of the Week Award

SOUTH HADLEY, Mass. (Sept. 13, 2010) – Mount Holyoke College first year Martina Kneifel has been named New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Volleyball Player of the Week for the week of September 6-12.

Kneifel was dominant in her first week as a Lyon, racking up 3.83 kills and 3.17 digs per set in a perfect 3-0 week. The outside hitter recorded nine service aces and a hitting percentage of .442. She made an immediate impact in her collegiate debut on Thursday, when she amassed 13 kills, 10 digs and four aces in a 3-0 win over Bay Path. Kneifel followed that with 10 kills, nine digs and five aces in Mount Holyoke's 3-0 triumph over St. Joseph College on Saturday. Later that day, she piled up 11 kills and 21 digs in her team's thrilling 3-2 victory over Daniel Webster College.

The Lyons (3-0, 0-0 NEWMAC) are slated to kick off their NEWMAC schedule tomorrow at MIT beginning at 7:00 p.m.
