SOUTH HADLEY, Mass. (Oct. 30, 2010) – Using a balanced attack, the Mount Holyoke College women's volleyball team rolled to a 3-0 (25-20, 25-23, 25-13) triumph over New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) foe Babson College this afternoon at the Mildred S. Howard Gymnasium.

With the win, the Lyons snapped a 33 match losing streak in league play. Their last win over a NEWMAC opponent came on October 7, 2007, when they handed WPI a 3-0 setback. Mount Holyoke closed out its 2010 campaign with an overall record of 9-16 and a league mark of 1-8. Meanwhile, Babson posted a 10-18 record and went 2-7 versus NEWMAC opponents.

The Lyons were paced by sophomore outside hitter Kathryn Brummer, who recorded 10 kills and 10 digs. It was her second double-double of the season and the third of her career. First year outside hitter Martina Kneifel delivered nine kills, 13 digs and three service aces. Meanwhile, seniors Kateryna Kuc and Rosa Marruffo registered 26 assists and 14 digs, respectively. As a team, the Lyons racked up seven blocks. Junior middle hitter Tyler Protano-Goodwin led the way with four block assists.
