Senior volleyball team member Kateryna Kuc has been named Lyon of the Week for the week of September 20-26. The setter piled up 51 assists, 26 digs and 12 kills in a 2-1 week for Mount Holyoke.
Kuc was at her best in the Lyons 3-0 victory over Elms College on Saturday, when she exploded for 20 assists, 18 digs and five kills. It was her fourth double-double of the season and 14th of her outstanding career. Later that day, the captain delivered 22 assists and six kills in Mount Holyoke's 3-0 win over Castleton State College.
With her 42 assists on Saturday, Kuc became the fourth player in program history to reach 1,000 for her career. In 78 career matches played, she has amassed 1,036 career helpers. The setter has tallied 20 or more assists on 22 occasions. She has also recorded 92 service aces and 532 digs.
Thus far this season, Kuc has amassed 6.27 assists and 2.64 digs per set to go with 13 service aces. She has posted 29 kills en route to a hitting percentage of .142.
Mount Holyoke (5-4, 0-3 NEWMAC) is slated to host New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) foe Wellesley College tomorrow at 7:00 p.m.
