THE MATCHUP: Mount Holyoke hosts Daniel Webster College and St. Joseph College for a tri-match tomorrow at the Mildred S. Howard Gymnasium. After facing off against St. Joseph at noon, the Lyons will meet up with Daniel Webster at 4:00 p.m. The remaining match will feature St. Joseph and Daniel Webster at 2:00 p.m. In 12 previous contests against St. Joseph, Mount Holyoke owns an 8-4 advantage. The Lyons had downed the Blue Jays five straight times before falling 3-2 last fall. They have never faced off against Daniel Webster.

THE LYONS: Mount Holyoke (1-0, 0-0 NEWMAC) raced to a 3-0 triumph over Bay Path College in its season opener on Thursday. It was the Lyons fifth straight season opening victory. They are now perfect in three all-time meetings with the Wildcats. Martina Kneifel was dominant in her collegiate debut, piling up 13 kills, 10 digs and four service aces. Mount Holyoke also received outstanding play from outside hitters Kathryn Brummer and Morgan Cooley, who finished with eight kills apiece. Setter Kateryna Kuc amassed 30 assists and four digs. It was the fifth time in her career that she has tallied 30 or more helpers in a match. As a team, the Lyons exploded for 19 service aces. Defensive specialist Rosa Marruffo accounted for five of those.
THE EAGLES: Daniel Webster (1-0, 0-0 NECC) topped the University of Southern Maine 3-1 in its 2010 debut on Wednesday. Middle Blocker Chelsey Crawford racked up 12 kills to lead the way for the Eagles.
THE BLUE JAYS: St. Joseph (1-1, 0-1 GNAC) kicked off its 2010 campaign with a convincing 3-1 triumph over Eastern Nazarene last Saturday. The Blue Jays fell 3-1 to MCLA later that afternoon and then dropped a 3-0 decision to Johnson & Wales University on Wednesday.
NEXT UP: Mount Holyoke will return to action on Tuesday, when it kicks off its NEWMAC slate at MIT beginning at 7:00 p.m. Daniel Webster will open up its home schedule against Anna Maria College Tuesday at 7:00 p.m. Meanwhile, St. Joseph will travel to Mitchell College for a contest starting at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
