THE MATCHUP: Mount Holyoke closes out its 2010 campaign versus New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) foe Babson College Saturday afternoon (1:00 p.m.) at the Mildred S. Howard Gymnasium. In 23 previous meetings between the programs, the Lyons own a 15-8 advantage. They fell to the Beavers for the fourth time in a row last season, losing by a score of 3-0.

MHC Logo THE LYONS: Mount Holyoke (8-16, 0-7 NEWMAC) has fallen in seven of its last eight matches after opening the season with an overall record of 7-9. They picked up a 3-0 victory over Gordon College at the Volleyball Hall of Fame Women's Invitational last Saturday. Outside hitter Martina Kneifel has made an immediate impact as a first year. Over her first 23 collegiate contests, she has collected six double-doubles. Her 2.68 kills per set and 31 service aces are good for tops on the squad, and she has also delivered 2.99 digs per set. Kneifel was named NEWMAC Player of the Week on September 13. Mount Holyoke has also received solid production from setter Kateryna Kuc, who has dished out 6.17 assists per set to go with 22 aces. Outside hitters Kathryn Brummer and Morgan Cooley have chipped in with 1.72 and 1.21 kills per set, respectively. Meanwhile, defensive specialist Rosa Marruffo has collected a team high 3.76 digs per set. Middle hitters Kristina Weld and Tyler Protano-Goodwin have registered 35 and 33 blocks, respectively for the Lyons.

Opponent Logo THE BEAVERS: Babson (10-17, 2-6 NEWMAC) suffered a 3-1 setback at Mount Ida College when it last took the court on Thursday. The Beavers have picked up league wins over Smith College (3-0) and Wheaton College (3-1) thus far this season. They have been paced by outside hitter Meg Flaherty, who has delivered 3.24 kills and 1.85 digs per set. Setter Kathleen Lynch has amassed 8.71 assists and 1.96 digs per set. Meanwhile, defensive specialist Jessica Millman has piled up a team best 2.41 digs per set. Opposite hitter Alexa Untermann leads Babson with 27 service aces, while  middle blockers Cathy Tinker and Ashley Strangio have posted 49 and 40 blocks, respectively.
