SOUTH HADLEY, Mass. (Sept. 25, 2010) – Led by first year outside hitter Martina Kneifel, the Mount Holyoke volleyball team cruised to a pair of 3-0 victories this afternoon at the Mildred S. Howard Gymnasium. After sweeping Elms College, the Lyons blanked Castleton State College.
Kneifel piled up 11 kills in Mount Holyoke's victory over Elms. The hosts also received a boost from senior setter Kateryna Kuc, who amassed 20 assists and 18 digs. Classmate Rosa Marruffo matched Kuc with 18 digs.
It was more of the same in Mount Holyoke's 3-0 triumph over Castleton State. Kneifel added 11 more kills, while classmate Kristina Weld collected four service aces.
Mount Holyoke (5-4, 0-3 NEWMAC) will resume its New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) slate on Tuesday, when it hosts Wellesley College at 7:00 p.m.
