Track and Field Shines at Sean Collier Invitational in Regular-Season Finale

Cambridge, Mass. - April 23, 2022 - The Mount Holyoke College track and field team wrapped up their regular season at the Sean Collier Invitational hosted by MIT on Saturday where the Lyons saw seven Top-10 All-Time performances in Mount Holyoke outdoor track and field program history.

Starting out the day strong for the Lyons, junior Emma Doyle (Lebanon, N.H.) finished 12th overall in the discus throw, posting a season-best mark of 31.07 meters which ranks eighth all-time in Mount Holyoke program history. In the javelin, sophomore Allyson Joseph (Danbury, Conn.) placed 13th overall recording a mark of 22.78 meters, while in the shot put, Doyle finished eighth overall with a personal-best mark of 10.75 meters which ranks sixth all-time in program history. In the long jump, junior Lucy Sternberg (Stonington, Conn.) placed tenth overall producing a mark of 4.55 meters.

Starting out on the track for Mount Holyoke, sophomore Emily Hood (Hardwick, Mass.) finished third overall in the 3000 meter steeplechase by clocking in a personal best of 12:40.57 which ranks seventh all-time in program history, while the 4 x 100 meter relay team of Sternberg, first-year Addison Heintz (Apex, N.C.), senior Amanda Kearney (Teaneck, N.J.), and first-year Cynthia Akanaga (Imo, Nigeria) placed fifth recording a time of 54.23 seconds.

In the 1500 meter run, first-year Tessa Lancaster (Manchester, Mass.) placed fourth overall in her 1500 debut, notching a time of 4:56.41 which ranks eighth all-time in Mount Holyoke history. Senior Sydney Nash (New Hartford, Conn.) followed in seventh place recording a season best of 5:12.25. In the 400 meter dash, senior Simone Jacob (San Francisco, Calif.) finished eighth overall by posting a personal record of 1:01.72 which is best for sixth all-time in program history. 

In the 100 meter dash, senior Leah Pendl-Robinson (Branford, Conn.) produced a top-20 finish by running a time of 14.61, while in the 800 meter run, junior Lauren Selkin (Greenwich, Conn.) delivered a fourth-place finish by recording a time of 2:24.99 which ranks ninth all-time in program history. In the 200 meter dash, Heintz placed 12th overall by posting a season best of 27.93 seconds. 

In the 5k, first-year Olivia Johnson (Mount Desert, Maine) finished second overall, crossing the line with a time of 20:20.83. Rounding out the day for the Lyons, the 4 x 400 meter relay squad of first-year Kim Beaver (Agawam, Mass.), classmate Greta Trapp (La Crosse, Wis.), Jacob, and Lancaster finished second overall clocking in a time of 4:17.99 which ranks eighth all-time in program history. 

Up next, the Mount Holyoke track and field team will make the short trip to Northampton, Mass. to compete in the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Championships, hosted at Smith College. The meet is set to begin at 11 a.m.
