Track and Field Shines at NEICAAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships

Smithfield, R.I. - May 14, 2022 - The Mount Holyoke College track and field team competed among New England's top student-athletes this past weekend at the NEICAAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships on Friday and Saturday. 

Senior Simone Jacob (San Francisco, Calif.) continued to put the finishing touches on an incredible career at Mount Holyoke College with another record-breaking performance, as she dropped her program-record time in the 800 meter race to 2:16.43 which was good for 18th overall. Jacob previously posted a time of 2:17.41 at the Division III New England Championships last weekend, topping the previous Mount Holyoke outdoor track & field program record in the event which was held by Langhan Dee, who posted a time of 2:17.72 in 2004. 

Standout junior Lauren Selkin (Greenwich, Conn.) had an impressive race as she took second overall in the 10k with a time of 37:17.42. Selkin established a new Mount Holyoke College outdoor track and field program record in the event at the Division III New England Championships as well, posting a time of 37:03.64.

Sophomore Emily Hood (Hardwick, Mass.) competed in the 3000 meter steeplechase and posted a time of 13:18.83, before a 4x800 relay team consisting of Kim Beaver (Agawam, Mass.), Jacob, Natalie Rodman (Upton, Mass.) and Selkin combined for a time of 9:53.96 to take 8th overall.

Mount Holyoke College will now gear up for the MIT Last Chance meet held on Thursday, May 19 in Cambridge, Mass.
