Swimming and Diving Closes Out Day Three of NEWMAC Championships

Cambridge, Mass. - February 18, 2022 - The Mount Holyoke College swimming and diving team competed in the third day of the 2022 New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Championships, hosted at MIT's Zesiger Sport and Fitness Center and currently sit at ninth place overall with 197 points. 

Beginning the morning session with the 400 individual medley, sophomore Eliza Williams (Andover, Mass.) took 16th overall, clocking in at 4:51.86, while classmate Evelyn Bushway (Schenectady, N.Y.) finished in 17th place, posting a time of 4:52.84. First-year Hannah Heierhoff (Wiesbaden, Germany) was the Lyons' top performer in the 100 butterfly, touching the wall in 1:01.90, while in the 200 freestyle, senior Adrienne Corr (San Diego, Calif.) produced a time of 2:06.30, the best from Mount Holyoke College in the event.

First-year Megan Schneider (Newton, Mass.) finished the 100 breaststroke, clocking in at 1:13.43, while in the 100 backstroke, junior Anais Magner (Whakatane, New Zealand) finished with a time of 1:02.67.

Wrapping up, the 200 medley relay team of Heierhoff, Schneider, sophomore Seran Goudsouzian (Hellertown, Pa.), and Corr finished 14th overall with a time of 1:59.69. The next grouping of Magner, junior Lauren Leese (Round Rock, Texas), first-year Lauren Madsen (Ghent, N.Y.), and junior Erin Schrama (Providence, R.I.) was 15th with a time of 1:59.99.

In the evening session, Williams finished 15th overall in the 400 individual medley finals, clocking in a time of 4:49.88, while Bushway finished in 17th place, recording a time of 4:50.55. Heierhoff, Schneider, Goudsouzian, and Corr combined for a time of 1:55.22 in the 200 medley relay, finishing ninth overall, while the team of Magner, Leese, Madsen, and Schrama was sixth in the B final with a time of 1:58.19.

Mount Holyoke College returns to the pool on Sunday, February 20 for the final day of the 2022 NEWMAC Championships, beginning with a morning session at 10 a.m. The women's three-meter diving prelims is set to begin at 1:15 p.m.
