Swimming and Diving Places Second at Sisters Invitational

Wellesley, Mass. - January 16, 2022 - The Mount Holyoke College swimming and diving team took second out of five teams competing at the Sisters Invitational, hosted at Wellesley College on Saturday and Sunday. Wellesley won the meet with a total of 1591 points, followed by the Lyons, which recorded 865.5 points in the two-day meet. Division-I Merrimack took third with 541.5, while Simmons (514.5) and Western New England (199.5) rounded out the top five.

Senior Kathryn Murphy (Fairport, N.Y.) was impressive once again and produced individual victories on both the one-meter and three-meter boards. Murphy put together a score of 439.20 in the one-meter, before coming back with a score of 442.15 in the three-meter. Lilje Stratton (Bellevue, Wash.) was second in both events with a 351.60 on the one-meter and 363.65 in the three-meter.

Mount Holyoke College started the meet off strong with a win in the 200 freestyle relay, as Callie Yosick (Portland, Ore.), Megan Schneider (Newton, Mass.), Adji Diouf (Arlington, Va.), and Caitlyn Richmond (Florence, Mass.) posted a winning time of 1:45.93.

Sophomore Evelyn Bushway (Schenectady, N.Y.) collected a pair of fourth-place finishes in the 500 freestyle with a time of 5:39.20 and in the 400 individual medley with a time of 5:00.25. Adrienne Corr (San Diego, Calif.) had a strong showing in the 200 freestyle with a time of 2:09.89, good for fourth.

In the 1650 freestyle, Eliza Williams (Andover, Mass.) took second with a time of 19:30.76, ahead of Corr, who placed third with a time of 19:40.64. Yosick was second in the 100 freestyle with a time of 55.80 seconds, while in the 200 breaststroke, Corr was fourth with a time of 2:43.15. Hannah Heierhoff (Wiesbaden, Germany) was third in the 200 butterfly with a time of 2:25.58.

Mount Holyoke returns to action on Saturday, January 22 as the Lyons will travel to Simmons for a 12 p.m. meet.
