Swimming and Diving's Murphy Tabbed to CoSIDA Academic All-District First Team

South Hadley, Mass. - May 24, 2022 - Senior Kathryn Murphy (Fairport, N.Y.) of the Mount Holyoke College swimming and diving program has been selected to the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) At-Large Academic All-District First Team, announced late last week.

Murphy, who became Mount Holyoke's first-ever diving all-american this past winter, was one of 12 student-athletes representing District I. First-team Academic All-District® honorees advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America® ballot, which will be voted on in late May and announced in mid-June. The 2021-22 Academic All-District® Women's At-Large Team, selected by CoSIDA, recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances in athletic competition and in the classroom. 

In 2021-22, Murphy earned All-America honors in the 3-meter diving event as the senior took eighth overall at the 2022 NCAA Division III Swimming and Diving Championships this past March. Murphy also won a New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) title on the 3-meter board, becoming the first-ever conference champion in diving at Mount Holyoke College. Murphy, who is a double major in Biology and Politics, has produced a cumulative grade-point average of 3.89 and was also named the Mount Holyoke College Senior Athlete of the Year.

Murphy graduated from Mount Holyoke College as the swimming and diving program and pool record holder in the 1-meter six dive event with a score of 293.17 and also broke the 3-meter 11 dive event with a score of 491.55.
