Murphy Collects NEWMAC Women's Diver of the Week Honors for the Second Time

South Hadley, Mass. - January 20, 2021 - Senior Kathryn Murphy (Fairpoint, N.Y.) has been named the New England Men's and Women's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Women's Diver of the Week, announced by the conference office on Tuesday. This is the second time this year that Murphy has earned this weekly honor.

Murphy helped the Lyons in a tough battle against nationally-ranked NEWMAC opponent Wheaton College last Thursday where Wheaton took home the win with a final score of 142-97. The Biology and Politics double major took home a victory in the one-meter board posting a mark of 256.15. Later that day, Murphy prevailed claiming another win with a mark of 269.55 in the three-meter.

Later in the week on Saturday, Murphy helped lead the Lyons to a second-place finish out of five teams at the Sisters Invitational scoring 865.5 points in the two-day meet. Murphy started the day strong with a victory in the one-meter board, producing a nationally-qualifying mark of 439.20, followed by another first-place nationally-qualifying score of 442.15 in the three-meter. 

Murphy and the Lyons will look to continue their success on Saturday, January 22 as Mount Holyoke travels to Simmons College for a 12 p.m. meet.
