Squash Continues Play at the CSA Individual Nationals

HARTFORD, Conn. (Mar. 2, 2013) – Day two of the 2013 CSA Individual National Championships is in the books and Mount Holyoke College saw two student-athletes in action during Saturday's competition. Junior captain Randima Ranaweera and first year Sherouk Khefagy both took to the court at Trinity College.

Playing the Second Round Consolation bracket, Ranaweera, a captain out of Colombo, Sri Lanka, shouldered a tough 13-15, 13-11, 11-13, 11-5, 11-8 loss to Williams' Laura Henry. The loss capped her season as she finished 18-3 overall during her junior campaign.

Khefagy, who hails from Cairo, Egypt, was victorious to open her day, beating Bowdoin's Rachel Barnes by an 11-9, 8-11, 11-8, 11-5 margin to move on. In her second match of the day, she was paired against Ranaweera's morning opponent Henry. It was a tough battle for Khefagy as well, but she came out the winner with a 5-11, 11-4, 12-10, 11-7 victory.

With her victory, Khefagy will now play in the semifinals of the Second Round Consolation. Her opponent is yet to be determined, but she will take the court at 9:40am on Sunday on court one.
