#17 Squash Shoulders Loss at #18 Wesleyan

MIDDLETOWN, Conn. (Dec. 5, 2012) - The Mount Holyoke College squash team saw its top two players post victories, but it proved not enough as Wesleyan University captured a 7-2 win on Wednesday evening. The victory moves the Cardinals to 8-2 on the season, while the Lyons shoulder their first loss of the year, falling to 2-1 overall.

Junior Randima Ranaweera made quick work of Wesleyan's Grace Zimmerman in her match, improving to 3-0 on the season behind an 11-5, 11-2, 11-4 victory. First year Sherouk Khefagy also moved to 3-0 overall in her collegiate debut, defeating Annie Maxwell by an 11-5, 11-8, 11-7 margin.

The Lyons battled in several other matches on the night, coming up just short. Sophomore Samantha Rosado saw a tough fight in the third spot, suffering an 11-6, 9-11, 12-10, 11-9 loss to Wesleyan's Lauren Nelson.

Additionally, junior Elyse Taylor also had a strong effort in the fifth spot, falling to Nell Schwed by a score of 11-4, 11-3, 9-11, 11-6.

Wesleyan returns to action on Friday when it hosts Connecticut College at 6pm. Mount Holyoke is back on the court on January 8, traveling to Trinity for a 7pm contest.
