#20 Squash Closes Out Hamilton Invite Victorious Over #34 Northeastern

CLINTON, N.Y. (Jan. 27, 2013) - The Lyons posted a sweep on Sunday, defeating Northeastern by a 9-0 margin to close out action at the Hamilton Invitational. Mount Holyoke improves to 5-7 with the win, paced by junior Shaheen Madraswala, who went 3-0 during the tournament.

Madraswala (Mumbai, India/J.B. Petit) breezed to an 11-6, 11-5, 11-2 victory over Northeastern's Olivia Simone in the second position. She won her previous two matches of the weekend at the third position. On the season, Madraswala is now 6-2.

First year Sherouk Khefagy (Cairo, Egypt/International School of Choueifat), playing her first match in the first position, was also victorious with an 11-2, 11-9, 7-11, 11-2 score over Jenny Janeck. She is now 8-4 on the season.

Sophomore Samantha Rosado (Meriden, Conn./F.T. Maloney) picked up a strong 11-6, 11-4, 11-6 victory in the third position, defeating Kitty Cheung, while senior captain Kathryn Brummer (Massapequa Park, N.Y./Long Island Lutheran) was the winner in the fourth position by an 11-2, 11-5, 11-1 margin.

In the fifth position, junior Elyse Taylor (Mission, Texas/Pomfret School (Conn.) posted an easy 11-2, 11-2, 11-1 win over Hoa Tran and sophomore Xianger Fei (Hangzhou, China/Hangzhou Foreign Language School) was victorious by an 11-2, 11-3, 11-5 margin over Sarah Gangley.

Rounding out the wins for the Lyons was first year Lauren Reikes (New York, N.Y./Choate Rosemary Hall), who recorded her first career victory with an 11-4, 11-6, 11-3 win against Northeastern's Sarah Grisales-Olays. The Lyons won the eighth and ninth position matches by default.

Mount Holyoke is now idle until next Saturday when it hosts the 2013 Seven Sisters Championship at the MHC Squash Courts within the Kendall Sports and Dance Complex. Action gets underway at 10am and will feature the Lyons, Vassar College, Smith College and Wellesley College.
